Solana error #1

BLOCK_HEIGHT_EXCEEDED

Appears as Solana error #1; Decode this error by running `npx @solana/errors decode -- 1 '…'`

Message

The network has progressed past the last block for which this transaction could have been committed.

What it means

The transaction's blockhash expired (lastValidBlockHeight passed) before it was confirmed. It can never land and must be rebuilt.

What to do

  • Fetch a fresh blockhash, rebuild, re-sign and resend with a competitive priority fee.
  • Resend the signed transaction every second or two until it confirms or expires, instead of sending once.

Decode it locally instead

npx @solana/errors decode -- 1 '<base64 context>'

In development, import from @solana/kit as usual and the full message is thrown. In production the message is stripped to keep bundles small; the error object still carries error.context with the same values this page decodes, and isSolanaError(err, SOLANA_ERROR__BLOCK_HEIGHT_EXCEEDED) lets you branch on it.
